Jira Team managed (former Next-Gen) Spaces

This article is for Tempo for Cloud

Question

Does Tempo support Team managed (former next-gen) Spaces?

Answer

Atlassian has introduced a new type of Jira Spaces: the Team managed (Next-Gen) Space. Team managed Spaces are easier in the setup and should help customers to get started quicker and reduce administration efforts.

Team managed Spaces have several limitations that effects the usage within Tempo as well. These limitations include missing Jira Space permissions, missing Jira workflows and very limited capabilities to add Jira custom fields to the Jira issues within a Team managed Space.

Atlassian rolled out Tempo Space permissions and Tempo Custom fields in its Jira Team managed Spaces. These make it much easier for you to create, manage and report on Tempo data in Jira Team managed Spaces.

Note:

These settings are being rolled out gradually and if these settings are still not available to you, they should be so within the next few weeks.

That means for Tempo users:

  1. Tempo permissions can now be configured inside the Team managed Space. Details can be found here.

  2. The Tempo Account field (Jira custom field) can now be set on a Jira issue within the Jira issue screen. Follow these steps:

    1. Create a new or go to any existing Team managed Space;

    2. Go to Space Settings → Apps;

    3. Click Account;

    4. Link an Account in the main page as you would do with Classic Spaces;

    5. Go to Space Settings → Apps → App fields and enable "Timesheets";

    6. Go to Space Settings → Issue Types and set the Account field in the issue type.

3. The Tempo Team field (Jira custom field) can be linked to Team managed Spaces in Tempo Teams pages. Then go to Space Settings → Issue Types and set the Team field in the issue type.
