Migration: Data Center to Cloud (Time Tracker)

At this time, Time Tracker does not support automated migration and is not migrated via JCMA. Below is an overview of how the migration process works.

Data safety

All time tracking data and issue data are stored directly in the Jira database, so no data will be lost during the migration. For more details, please refer to this knowledge base article: How intrusive is Prime Timesheet plugin in Jira?

Migration process

Since the data resides in Jira, migrating Time Tracker data is effectively the same as migrating Jira Software itself. This part of the process is handled automatically by Atlassian during the Jira Data Center to Cloud migration.

App reinstallation

After the migration, the Time Tracker app must be installed in the Cloud environment. Any dashboard gadgets, reports, or email subscriptions will need to be recreated manually, as these settings do not migrate automatically.

Licensing

Please note that Time Tracker plugins for Jira Cloud require separate licenses and are not covered by Data Center licenses. A new Cloud license must be purchased to continue using Time Tracker after migration.
