Problem
Some items are not being scheduled on my Gantt chart according to their Start & Finish dates in Jira fields.
Solution
If a work item has values defined in Jira fields that are set as Start Date & Finish Date on the Gantt chart, then please check if:
-
the item in question has any child items underneath it in the structure
-
and that the ‘Treat parent items as groups’ option is enabled in the Gantt chart’s configuration (at the bottom of the Scheduling tab).
If an item is treated as a group, then it doesn’t contribute to the work, and all its individual data is not considered on the Gantt chart. Groups only reflect the work and its scheduling of the tasks within them. The Start date of a group matches the earliest Start date of its tasks, and its Finish date matches the latest Finish date of its tasks.
Disabling the ‘Treat parent items as groups’ option will turn all parent work items into individual tasks, and they will be scheduled according to the data they have.
