Structure displays outdated values

This article is for Structure Cloud.

Problem

I made an update in Jira, such as:

  • icons of users or item types were changed

  • configurations of fields were updated - the names of existing options changed, or their order

  • the date/time format was changed in Jira settings

  • permissions and user access in Jira were changed

But I’m still seeing the old data in my structure:

  • columns shows old data

  • groups created by generators do not reflect the new names

  • Extend generators do not properly add linked child items

  • users continue to not have access to structures even after being granted the right permissions.

Solution

Some updates made on Jira’s side do not provide a webhook for Structure to react to. This results in Structure simply being unaware of the change, and outdated content being displayed in structures. This issue resolves on its own once the relevant cached value in Structure expires, and a new value is being loaded from Jira.

If you encounter any of the mentioned symptoms, please wait up to 4 hours after making the relevant change. In some cases, the waiting time can be much shorter; 4 hours is the longest possible period. If the content you see in the structure doesn’t change after this, please let us know, and we will look into it in more detail.
