Links-related changes in Structure are not indexed

This article is for Structure Data Center.

Problem

When I change links in my structure by dragging and dropping issues between different parents, links are being updated on the Issue Page, but they are not indexed in Jira, and records of these changes do not appear in the issue’s History tab.

Solution

This is the expected behavior - changes of links made by generators in the structure are not indexed right away by default. Since such changes can be made in bulk by dragging and dropping multiple issues in a structure, and indexing takes time and resources, the indexing is postponed. The made changes are indexed automatically after a while.

This behavior can be changed, and all links-related changes made by generators can be treated the same as any other such change in Jira: reindexing right away. Additionally, you can enable corresponding history records as well.

This can be done by adding a system property in Structure on the Structure Dark Features and Fine Tuning page. You can find out more about how to access this page, and how to add the right property in our documentation here: https://help.tempo.io/structure-dc/latest/advanced-configuration-and-dark-features#Link-related-changes-made-by-Generators-or-Synchronizers
