Swimlane or Timeline headers look wrong — missing, duplicated, or grouped oddly

Problem

In a Portfolio's Roadmap (Timeline) or Swimlane view:

• Expected header values (columns or rows) don't appear.

• Multi-select field values look combined or split unexpectedly.

Solution

This is typically caused by the Show Empty Headers and Combine Multi-Select Headers settings under Format > Layout.

1. Open Format > Layout.

2. If a header value with no items isn't showing, check whether Show Empty Headers is toggled off — toggle it on to show all header values regardless of item count.

3. If your Column Header or Row Header field is a multi-select list and values look merged or split unexpectedly, check the Combine Multi-Select Headers setting and toggle it to match the behavior you want.

4. Confirm the correct field is selected for Column Header, Row Header, and Group Rows By — picking the wrong field is a common cause of unexpected grouping.
