Problem
There are three scenarios where "Authenticate with Jira" fails, or the wrong/no Jira instances appear:
-
Authentication doesn't complete, or returns you to the wizard without a connected site.
-
The "Use app on" dropdown on the Atlassian page is empty or shows the wrong site.
-
The Jira instance dropdown in the Loop wizard is empty.
Solution
You're not logged into the intended Jira instance in the current browser session, or you authorized with the wrong Atlassian account.
-
Open a new tab, go directly to your Jira site, and confirm you're logged in. Return to Loop and retry Authenticate with Jira.
-
On the Atlassian authorization page, check the "Use app on" dropdown carefully — it doesn't auto-select your intended site. If you have multiple Atlassian accounts (e.g., work and personal), make sure you're authorizing with the one tied to the correct Jira instance. Accept the terms and continue.
-
Back in the Loop wizard, manually confirm and select the correct instance — the dropdown doesn't auto-select the site you just authorized.
If you manage multiple Jira instances, double-check the selected instance at every step of the wizard, not just at authentication — this is the most common cause of importing from the wrong site.
