Problem
On the Portfolio tab, after import, you don't see a level of hierarchy you need (e.g., no place to add an Initiative above your Epics) or a status used in Jira doesn't appear as an option in Loop.
Solution
The import only creates the item types and statuses it detected in your Jira data. Higher-level strategy items (Initiatives, Features) don't exist in Jira, so Loop won't create them automatically.

Click the gear icon to open Settings.

Under Item Types, click Add Level of Hierarchy to add the missing level (e.g., Initiative, Feature), or add an item type to an existing level.

Under Custom Statuses, add any missing status, or edit/set a default status.
Before creating your Loop-native Initiatives and Features, review both Item Types and Custom Statuses in Settings to confirm they cover everything you plan to build — not just what was imported.
