How to Stop Email Notifications for Worklog Changes

Question

Users receive an email every time a worklog is added, edited, or deleted, which they consider spam. How can these notifications be turned off?

Answer

Notifications like these aren't sent by Tempo. They come from Jira's notification scheme, so they can be adjusted there. Since Tempo worklogs are also stored in Jira, logging time in Tempo triggers the same Jira events.

To reduce or stop these emails, you can update the notification scheme used by the affected space (project). The events to look for are:

  • Work logged on work item

  • Work item worklog updated

  • Work item worklog deleted

Atlassian's documentation walks through the process here: Configure notification schemes.

It's worth keeping in mind that notification schemes apply per space, so a change will affect everyone in the spaces that share that scheme.
