How to Prevent Logging Time in Team-Managed Spaces

Question

Time Tracking can be disabled in company-managed spaces to stop users from logging time, but team-managed spaces don't appear to have that option. How can users be prevented from logging time in specific team-managed spaces?

Answer

Tempo doesn't control which spaces time can be logged to. This is managed through Jira permissions, and team-managed spaces handle them through roles rather than permission schemes.

To stop users from logging time in a team-managed space, remove the "log work on any issue" permission from the role they hold in that space. The default roles (Administrator, Member, and Viewer) can't be edited, so this means creating a custom role:

  1. Open the team-managed space and go to Space settings > Access.

  2. Select the cogwheel, then Manage roles.

  3. Create a custom role and make sure the "log work on any issue" permission is not selected.

  4. Assign the affected users to the new role and remove them from their current default role.
