Problem
I use “Log in as another user” in Jira to check what a user can see. The Power BI Connector page keeps loading and never opens. The same user can open the page in their own session. A Jira administrator can open it too.
Solution
This is a known limitation on Atlassian’s side. Apps built on Forge, including Power BI Connector for Jira, don’t work reliably in sessions opened with “Log in as another user”. The app expects the signed-in user to match the session. During impersonation, the two don’t match. Atlassian tracks this request publicly: ECO-244. Add your vote there so it gets more attention.
A page that fails to load in this kind of session doesn’t mean the user’s permissions are wrong.
To check what a user sees, ask the user to sign in to Jira in their own browser, with no impersonation. Then ask them to open Power BI Connector from the Apps menu.
If the page still doesn’t open in a regular session, check the following:
-
Open the Power BI Connector Administration page. Confirm the user/ user’s group is listed in the permissions.
-
Go to Apps > Manage apps. Confirm Power BI Connector for Jira is up to date.
