Migrating to Cloud Using the Jira Migration Assistant

Migrate your Custom Charts data from Jira Server or Data Center (DC) to Jira Cloud with the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA).

Before you begin

Make sure you perform the following before you start the migration process.

User setup

Every user on your Jira instance must have access to Jira Cloud. Each user account must have unique email address as identification.

Your admins must have the same email address set on Jira DC and Jira Cloud.

Additionally, if you have any private dashboards, invite the dashboard owners to join your Cloud instance if they are not already part of it. They must be able to access the Cloud instance before you migrate your Custom Charts data.

Set up migration

Part of the migration process involves an assessment of your data in the JCMA.

To do so:

1. Go to Jira Settings > System > Migrate to Cloud.

2. Complete the Migration Assistant steps:

   1. Assess your applications.

   2. Prepare your applications.

   3. Assess and prepare your users.

3. Create a new migration project:

   1. Connect your Cloud instance.

   2. Name your migration.

   3. Select Projects, Dashboards, and the Custom Charts application as the scope for your migration.

4. Save everything and run the pre-migration steps.

5. Run the migration once the pre-migration finishes.
