Add a Simple Search to your dashboard to set up a single source of data that other Custom Charts for Jira gadgets can use. Adding this gadget first means other gadgets will set their source to the Simple Search by default.
Adding the Simple Search gadget
To add this gadget to a Jira dashboard:

Open the dashboard and select Edit.

Select Add gadget.

Scroll to the gadget and select Add.
You can also enter the name of the gadget in the search field to find it.
After you add a gadget, go to the Details tab to give it a Title and an optional Description.
Setting up the Simple Search
To set up a data source for Simple Search:

Select Projects from the Source menu.

Select a project from the list.
After you select a project as your source, you will see the following fields:
While you can further customize Simple Search to fit your needs, for this quick start we will leave everything at its default setting.
Select Save gadget to finish setting up the Simple Search.
