Question
We've disabled the Tempo Timesheets plugin in Jira Data Center and haven't seen any issues. If we go ahead and fully uninstall it, will there be any impact — such as loss of historical worklogs, database issues, or disruption to other plugin functionality?
Answer
Uninstalling Tempo Timesheets from Jira Data Center will not cause you to lose your historical worklogs. Here's why:
-
Worklogs stay in Jira. On Data Center, all worklogs, whether created through Jira's native Log Work dialog or Tempo's Log Time dialog, are stored in Jira's own worklog table, not in a Tempo-specific table. Uninstalling Tempo does not touch this data, so the raw time-spent entries remain intact in Jira.
-
Tempo-specific data lives separately. Information unique to Tempo, such as Tempo accounts, teams, billable/non-billable flags, custom work attributes, approvals, and report configurations, is stored in Tempo's own database tables. A straightforward uninstall (same version, no downgrade) does not modify or delete this database, so if you later reinstall the same version, that data will still be there.
-
Other Tempo functionality will stop working. Once uninstalled, Tempo will no longer function in your instance, and any other apps or plugins that depend on Tempo for data should stop working as well. Impact on third-party (non-Tempo) plugins isn't something we can confirm. Please check with the vendor of any other integrated app.
