Simple Search Tabs

Users can add Tabs to provide different, preset views of the Jira data displayed on linked reports. These tabs can also be used externally via the Shared Dashboard gadget.

Once a tab is added, an editor can preset values from any Simple Search field. The preset selections will automatically apply to linked reports once the tab is clicked by users.

  1. With Simple Search in Edit mode, find the tab you want to rename

  2. Click the pencil icon in the tab next to it’s name

  3. Type your new name in the text box and hit Enter on the keyboard

Add Additional Tabs in Simple Search and Set Filter Values

  1. In the Live Preview, next to the first tab, click the + sign

  2. Optional: Rename the tab if you wish by clicking the pencil icon

  3. Optional: On the right side of Simple Search in the Simple Search Fields tab, add new filters, and remove or edit existing filters

  4. Optional: Go back to the Live Preview and select values from dropdowns to set default values for filters when users click the tab

If you add multiple tabs in Simple Search, you can delete them. The first tab cannot be deleted.

  1. In the tab you want to remove, click the down button, then click Delete

  1. If you have one tab only, click the Duplicate tab button. If you have more than one tab, click the down button on the tab you want to duplicate, then click Duplicate

Use Tabs as a Dashboard Viewer

Any values selected in fields in the first tab will be automatically applied to all linked Custom Charts or Issue List gadgets/macros on the Dashboard

  1. In Simple Search, click the desired tab

  2. All linked charts will update to reflect the values set in the tab

Shared Dashboard (External) Tabs

Simple Search can now be used on Shared Dashboards to filter reports. Now that this is supported, users can opt to include Tabs on the Shared Dashboard. These are enabled by default, but can be disabled if needed. To rename, add, duplicate, and delete Shared Dashboard tabs, repeat the steps listed in each section above, but in the area depicted in the screenshot below.

Disable Shared Dashboard Tabs

  1. With Simple Search in Edit mode, click the Display options tab

  2. Find the Tabs section and click the Shared Dashboard Tabs toggle so it turns grey
