The OpenAI connection pulls daily cost and usage across Platform API-key products, including Codex, the ChatGPT API, Audio, and Images, billed to your organization. ChatGPT subscription seats are not included.
How it’s used: This is a primary source for AI Cost Tracking. Spend is attributed back to the Jira work items based on detected work activity on that same day. Spend that can’t be matched to any GitHub activity still counts toward your organization-wide total.
Step 1: Create a read-only Admin API key in OpenAI

Sign in to the OpenAI Platform and navigate to Admin Keys.

Select Create new Admin Key and give it a name (for example, "Workforce Intelligence Integration").

Set the permissions to Restricted and grant Read access to the Management API and Usage API scopes.

Select Create Admin Key.

Copy the key and store it securely. OpenAI does not display the key again after creation.
Step 2: Configure the connection in Workforce Intelligence

In Workforce Intelligence, go to Settings | Connectors.

Look for the OpenAI API (Platform) connector and click Connect.

Enter your admin API key. Select Verify & connect.
Once your API has been verified and connected, the system will automatically pull the last 90 days of OpenAI data.
It may take several hours to see data on the reporting views, depending on the size of your Jira instance.
