Managing Date Information in Strategic Roadmaps

Question

How can I add additional date fields in Strategic Roadmaps?

Answer

Currently, the platform is limited to the standard Start Date and End Date fields for scheduling logic, and it is not possible to create a custom field with a "Date" data type. To track additional timing, you can use one of these three workarounds:

  • Key Dates and Milestones: Use these to place visual markers (like deadlines or launch dates) directly on your roadmap without affecting the core schedule.

  • Custom List Fields: Create a dropdown menu with predefined dates or periods (e.g., "Q1 2026" or "Phase 1 Launch") to ensure standardized data entry.

  • Custom Text Fields: Use a text field for manual date labels; however, keep in mind these will sort alphabetically rather than chronologically and do not support automated scheduling.

Please Note (Integrated Roadmaps): If you are syncing data from external tools, additional date fields behave as follows:

  • Jira: You are able to display additional Date Fields as read-only fields in your roadmap.

  • Shortcut: Any additional Date fields selected which are not mapped to Start and End Dates will be pulled in as read-only text fields.

  • Azure DevOps: Additional Date fields selected under “Dates to Display” are pulled in as read-only text fields.
