Working with Time Tracker by Tempo for Chrome
You can track progress on your Jira issues or track time outside of Jira in real-time directly from the Tempo icon pinned to the top right of your Chrome browser. Trackers in Chrome work similarly to those available from the issue view, but since the tracker is a Tempo Chrome extension, it remains visible at the top right of your browser at all times. You can easily navigate between Jira and non-Jira views and track work on ongoing issues without spending extra time searching for them and have the running trackers visible in your open browser tabs.
Start Tracker
Click + Start Tracking to open the first tracker and start the timer. If you are in an issue view or if you have selected an issue, the tracker automatically begins tracking time on that issue. You can open multiple trackers by clicking the + button. The tracker starts immediately; click the pause button when you want to stop working on an issue for a time, then click play to continue working.
Click the up arrows to open the tracker display to select or search for an issue from the Select issue drop-down field. All fields are pre-populated with the information from your tracker. You can select a different issue at any time while the tracker runs. To go to the issue view, simply click on the issue key. Alternatively, you can edit the number of hours in the timer and log time.
Enter information in the description field as you work or before you log time. Time Tracker by Tempo makes it easy to switch between JIRA issues without navigating to the Issue view. You can easily pause the tracker, work on other issues, then resume your work at a later time. For non-Jira issues, the issue key appears as "No issue key'.
When you are ready to log time, click the Log Time button to log your time in your timesheet. If you choose to log time in My Work, click the :external_link: icon.
The tracker is closed, and a message appears that the time is successfully logged. Click View My Work to view your timesheet.
You will be directed to the Log time form if your organization has created any mandatory custom attributes.
Pause Tracker
Click the pause icon when you want to pause working on an issue for a time, then click play to continue working. If you have several trackers running, use the scroll (< >) icon to view the other trackers.
Delete Tracker
When you want to delete a tracker, click the expand/collapse button and click the Delete icon. A confirmation message appears to confirm deleting the tracker. Click Delete Tracker to proceed.
Enable or Disable Multiple Trackers
You can choose to enable or disable multiple trackers running at the same time by clicking the Time Tracker extension icon on the top right view of your browser and toggle the option Enable Multiple Trackers. When enabled, multiple trackers run at the same time. If disabled, only one tracker runs and pauses the other trackers (if any).
Show Only on Jira
This setting allows you to enable or disable the time tracker to be shown only on your Jira sites. By default, this option is disabled, which means it is shown on all web pages.
Hide Tracker
If you are working on multiple issues, you can click the double-arrow icon at the extreme right of the tracker to hide the trackers. When hidden, the button displays a badge showing the number of trackers in use. For the hidden inactive trackers, the button remains greyed out.
There is an option to hide all the trackers from the screen, but they will still be running in the background if they are active. Click the Time Tracker extension icon on the top right view of your browser and toggle the option Hide Trackers on Screen.
