Question
Should I use an Access Token or Jira API Token to authenticate in Tableau?
Answer
These two credentials serve different purposes and must not be mixed. Below is an explanation of the differences between an Access Token and a Jira API token.
-
Access Token - this is the only credential that should be used to authenticate in Tableau (used as the password).
-
Jira API Token - must not be used for authentication in Tableau under any circumstances.
The Jira API Token is only used inside the connector configuration to enable the export of specific tables, such as User Profiles, Sprint Reports, Velocity Charts, Assets, etc.
Using a Jira API Token for authentication in Tableau will not work and may lead to connection issues.
