Tempo Budgets (Data Center) vs. Financial Manager (Cloud)

Tempo Budgets is a Jira Data Center product that is not currently available for Jira Cloud.* However, Tempo does offer Financial Manager (formerly Cost Tracker), a financial solution for Jira Cloud, which was released to the Atlassian Marketplace early in 2020.

Special Considerations for Evaluating Financial Manager

Tempo Financial Manager leverages the power of Tempo Timesheets to deliver a financial overview that enables you to quickly track costs and assess the financial health of your projects. It is intended to solve similar use cases to Tempo Budgets.

Although Financial Manager does not match all of Budgets' features, it duplicates the core functions with added improvements. In addition, Financial Manager has an advantage over Budgets with these fundamental comparisons:

  • Easier setup and faster path to value

  • Optimized architecture for scalability on Cloud

  • Public API enhancement, along with new features being continuously added

  • Better integration with the Tempo product suite

One important consideration is that, while the two products aim to address similar use cases, their underlying technical architectures are entirely different. As a result, there is no formal migration path available from Budgets to Financial Manager, but there are other methods of migrating Budgets' data. Make sure to check out the Financial Manager API, which can help you migrate your data from Tempo Budgets. For example, it can be enabled to create your projects in Financial Manager. Refer to the Financial Manager API documentation for help.

To help you evaluate whether the move from Budgets to Financial Manager is right for you, we have compiled a table that highlights where key functionalities diverge.
