Google Calendar for Tempo Timesheets

Abstract

How to install and access Google Calendar for Tempo Timesheets

Integrating your Google calendar with the My Work Calendar in Tempo Timesheets allows you to see all your scheduled meetings and other events there. Then you can quickly log time by just clicking on the calendar event cards in My Work. See Logging Time Using the Activity Feed for more information on this.

If you add the Jira issue key in the title of the Google calendar events (such as INT-45 Meetings), Tempo will pick up the issue key and so that you can log time to that event in just one click!

Tip

You can also connect and disconnect the Google Calendar app from the Settings settings-icon-issues-side-panel.png menu in My Work in Tempo Timesheets - see Connecting Your External Calendars for more information.

Note

Tempo does not store any information from your Google calendar, and calendar events are visible in My Work only while the Google calendar is connected.

To access and install the app:

  1. Select Apps Apps.jpg in the Tempo sidebar.

  2. On the Google Calendar tile, click Install.

  3. The Calendar Connection page opens where you must choose one of the connection options depending on if you want to use Tempo's automation features or not:

    • Enhanced Calendar with automation includes Tempo Automation which helps you log time faster by displaying your calendar events as activities in your Activity Feed. After selecting Sign in, you'll be prompted to connect to a calendar of your choice.

    • Basic Calendar connection offers basic functionality without automation. No information is stored.

To learn more about either option, see Understanding the difference between Basic and Enhance Calendar connections.

  4. Sign in with your Google account.

  5. If you have more than one Google account, select the one you want to connect to My Work, most likely your work-related account.

  6. Tempo then requests access permission to your calendar, so click Allow.

  7. If you have more than one Google calendar for this account, select the one whose events you want to display and log time to in My Work.

  8. Click Go to My Work to see your calendar events in both the Calendar and List views. The calendar activity cards are identified with a calendar_icon_google.jpg icon.

  9. When installed, the Google Calendar app is added in the Installed section on the Tempo Apps home page.

  10. To log time to these activities, see Logging Time Using the Activity Feed.
