Connecting Your External Calendars to My Work

Abstract

How to connect your external calendars to My Work

Integrating your Google or Office 365 calendars with the My Work Calendar in Tempo Timesheets allows you to see all your scheduled meetings and other events in one spot. Then you can quickly log time by just clicking on the event cards in My Work.

Here's how to make logging time even easier: when you're creating your next Calendar event, give it a descriptive title to identify it in your time records and add the Jira issue key in the title. Tempo will pick up the issue key, so you can log time to that event in a single click!

  • Tempo does not store any information from your external calendars, and calendar events are only visible in My Work while the external calendars are connected.

  • You cannot edit external calendar events in the My Work Calendar because no data from external calendars is stored in Tempo. You must edit the event in the external calendar itself.

  • Every calendar event in your external calendar is visible in My Work.

Tip

You can also connect and disconnect external calendars from the Tempo Apps Apps.jpg page.

Connecting Your Google Calendar

  5. Click Go to My Work to see your calendar events in both the List and Time views of the Calendar. The event cards are identified with a google-cal-icon.jpg

Connecting Your Office 365 Calendar

You can integrate an Office 365 or Microsoft Exchange calendar service with My Work. This account will be automatically detected the next time you connect Office 365 to My Work.

The Office 365 Calendar integration is available only to users with the Cloud version of Office 365. Hosted enterprise editions of Office 365 are not supported.

  1. Go to My Work My_Work__1_.jpg.

  2. Click View at the top-right, and select Office 365 Calendar.

  4. Tempo will then request access permission to your calendar: click Yes.

  5. If you have more than one Office 365 calendar, select the one you want to display in your My Work calendar.

Logging Time to a Calendar Event

  1. In My Work, click a card google-cal-icon.jpg from a Google Calendar event.

  2. If needed, make changes to the title and description in the Log Time form, and then click Log Time.

The card becomes a time record worklog-green-check-icon.jpg and your time is logged. The event icon turns gray event-cal-grey.jpg to indicate the record's origin. If you delete this time record, the original event reappears in the My Work calendar.

  3. To edit the time record, click it and make changes in the Edit Time Record form.
